21 July, 2025 1:31 am

Welcome to Pitch, Please!, The Christy Maz Network series where you can promote your product here and reach women now! We wanted a space for women to be able to promote their latest products/projects and let other women be the first to know about things that are new and exciting!

So Pitch, Please was born.

Hi Shannon! Welcome to Pitch, Please!

For those who don’t know you, tell the folks who you are, what is the company you are promoting and what is your logline for the company?
My company is Second Act Success Career and Business Coaching. As a career transition and business coach, I support women who want to leave unfulfilling careers and build joyful, purpose-driven businesses. I am also the Author of Start Your Second Act: How to Change Careers, Launch a Business, and Create Your Best Life.

Tell us a little more about what your company is about?
Through my company I work with women to help them plan an exit strategy from their 9-5 job and support them as they build a business that will bring freedom and flexibility.

Who is your company for?
I mainly work with women in their 30s+ who feel that the careers they chose in their 20s, no longer aligns with their life and their goals. These women want to leave their corporate jobs to
launch a business of their own utilizing their skills, experience, and their creativity.

What impact do you hope your company will have on people’s lives?
I want others to find alignment and fulfillment as they leap into a second act career that truly fits where they are at in this stage of life. My goal is to help these women get unstuck and
realize they are worthy of making a pivot to find their purpose.

What is your background/ How did you get into this industry?

After a 16 year career as a Television Producer in New York City and Los Angeles, I pivoted to entrepreneurship. I opened a franchise business and quickly grew to be one of the top in my organization, and I successfully sold the business after eight years. Meanwhile, I simultaneously started another company called Second Act Success where I work as a certified career transition and business coach helping women make a career change and start a business that brings them passion, purpose, and fulfillment.

How and why did you start this company?
When I transitioned out of the entertainment industry, I struggled to figure out what else I could do with my TV Production experience. Once I figured out that I could “produce” my own life and excel in business, I realized there was a need to help other women who felt lost and lonely trying to make a career pivot. Friends and customers who saw my entrepreneurial success started asking me how I went from a TV Producer to a business owner and can I help them too. This sparked my idea to launch Second Act Success, so I could help other women start a second act. This also sparked my desire to write my book Start Your Second Act: How to Change Careers, Launch a Business, and Create Your Best Life, so I could reach even more women. This book is a resource that shares how to figure out what it is you want to do in this next chapter of your life and how to take action steps to reach your goals. I also share my career transition story and success stories from other women to inspire the reader as well.

What moment made you realize this idea was going to be a success?
When I had women I knew in my community ask me to help them, and they were gaining the confidence to pursue their ideas and build a business that would replace their corporate job. Seeing this happen organically was incredible, and then the business continued to grow!

What were your fears and how did you overcome them?
I felt that there was a gap in the market for what I was offering, but I wasn’t sure how to reach the women who needed my help. It was scary to venture into a second business, while I was running my franchise too, but I just went for it. I took it day by day, and I built the coaching business slowly so I didn’t get overwhelmed. Raising two kids at the same time and running two businesses meant I had to create boundaries and balance.

Was the process hard or easy?

It wasn’t easy, but it was doable. By not putting too much pressure on myself to grow too quickly helped. I let my coaching business organically grow and I was able to take on the amount of clients I could handle. I kept reminding myself that it’s a long game.

What is the best thing about what you do?
Spending my time talking to other women like me who have big goals is the BEST! We get really close and work as a team to make a roadmap and plan out the action steps needed to get them
from where they are to where they want to be. It’s so much fun to watch my clients gain confidence as they start seeing their ideas becoming reality!

What is the one thing that people always compliment you on in your business?
I’m always told how I’m like the “girl next door” and that is why clients like working with me because there is a trust factor. I am not someone who is different than them, we have the same
goals for our career and families for the most part, so I work as an accountability partner alongside my clients. It’s a true partnership and that makes it fun!

For someone looking to do what you do – any advice?
I’d say give yourself grace as you figure out what it is you want to do next in your second act. If you have experience that you think others will benefit from and you want to get into coaching
or consulting, start thinking about what you would offer as a transformation. Make a list of offerings, and test them out on friends or potential clients to see how you work with others and
what results you can get for them. Then, go for it! You’ll never know until you try!

Where can people find you or work with you?
You can go to my website at https://secondactsuccess.co and read my new book called Start Your Second Act: How to Change Careers, Launch a Business, and Create Your Best Life that has so many resources along with advice, strategies I teach my clients, and inspiration.
